How do a tell a false prophet from a true prophet?

Test a prophet.

Deut.13: 1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;

3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

A prophet of God must be in agreement with the words of the prophets and the known word of God.

1John 2: 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Anyone who claims to be a prophet of God must agree Jesus is the Christ the Son of God who is our savior.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist

Gal. 1: 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

If an angel or a man preach a different gospel he is not of God.

How do a tell a false prophet from a true prophet?
Well, if you read biblical prophecy, you will always see a distinct pattern: conditions.

The Spirit always speaks in conditions.

';Your sins are piled up to heaven, repent therefore. If you do not repent, you will be carried into exile.';

';Joshua son of ___ has been faithful to me. Therefore I will exalt him to a position of authority.';

Never do you find God saying He will do something just for the sake of it. There is always a justification or condition.

Sometimes he will say, ';Do such and such, because I am such and such.';

This pattern will ALWAYS be there.

A true prophet will not always have his words come to pass, but there are reasons that they won't:

1. Through obedience or lack of obedience on the part of the person spoken over.

So, if I get told, ';God is going to make you a great musician, to write and play music for His name'; and I never picked up and instrument, never trained myself, never learnt, then it would not come to pass. I can't blame the prophet.

2. Some prophecies are warnings, and they are not supposed to come to pass. ';Child, if you continue on the path you're on, then _____ will happen.'; Then the person repents, and the warning does not come to pass.

Does not indicate false prophet-hood.

3. Person taking prophecy out of context.

Sometimes a genuine, inspired word can wreak havoc in a person's life, because they run wild with it.

Example, it is spoken over them: ';I feel that you have desired a career change. Well, a career change is coming for you.';

So they quit their job, expecting something to fall into your lap. There may have been nothing wrong with the word spoken, but you are expected to judge, consider and act wisely regarding things spoken over your life.

In this example, the person has done something extremely foolish and quit their job without first securing a position in the career of their choice. If you take a word spoken over you, and act rashly with it, it is YOUR fault, not the prophet's.

Sadly, in many of these situations, the person giving the word is blamed for it. That is why it is so important for inspired words to be judged; not just because they may be false, but because they can be taken out of context. A company of witnesses protect both the prophet and the one spoken over.

In Charismatic Christianity, words should ALWAYS be given in the company of witnesses, never directly.

In the case of a speaker's words judged as uninspired, a system of discipline needs to be in place that they stop, and put extra time in seeking God in the secret place, to better learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.

A person whose heart is genuine will submit to such a stricture, because they do not want to speak false words over people. The person who rebels against it is a person of false heart, who does not care what damage he may do.

Hope that helps.How do a tell a false prophet from a true prophet?
Apparently, their predictions must come true 100% of the time. And how many times does that actually happen? Never has and never will.

You want to see me be a prophet? I predict that a photon that was created a million years ago in the sun's core is just now barely reaching the planet somewhere. Am I right? Of course! Am I a prophet? Of course not.

Besides, Christians seem to have this clause. Everyone is a good Christian until they do something bad, then ';they never really were Christians';. And that, ladies and gentlemen, was taken verbatim.
They demand all your money and possessions and tell you the world's ';Dah Devil.'; The real obvious ones will start passing around guns and rave about war with nonbelievers. If they bring out the cool-aid RUN!

The really clever ones are hard to spot. They mix truths with lies. For taht you have to use your brain and ask yourself if their teachings actually produce real enlightenment or make people's lives better? Or is it just another rehash on the golden rule under a different wrapper?

I don't bother with prophets for that reason. Nobody says anything substantially new. It's just the same tired philosophies with new mythologies added on it to make it seem new. In that case, I much rather be an atheist and just try to teat others as best I can. Worked for me so far...
A false prophet CHANGES God's word.

A Prophet who claims to be so, but does not testify of Jesus, and does not keep the commandments of God is a false prophet. A prophet who completely contradicts the revelations of God and his words and prophesy is a FALSE prophet.

1 John 4:1-3, ';Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.';

A false prophet has a spirit of the Anti-Christ.

False prophets are recognizable by their lack of adherance to Scriptural truth. Whenever a man teaches a doctrine that has no Scriptural basis, presenting it as truth, he is a false prophet. Although he may speak soothing words that are comfortable to hear, his message is not of God, but from within himself, based upon his own personal goals, lusts, and biases.

Matthew 7:15-20: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

False prophets possess the ability to reach large groups of people and seduce them with their wickedness, offering them hope in something that isn't of God. Amazingly, some of these practitioners of evil doctrine are so gifted in deception they lead professing Christians into their flocks.

Matthew 24:24: For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Mark 13:22-23: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

The Apostle Peter warned of teachers who would confront Christians with ';damnable heresies'; and would even deny the Lord Himself! As I continue to document on this website, these teachers are present in the world today, mocking the Word of God and compromising the Scriptures in the interest of political correctness and religious tolerance. What are these men? False prophets!

2nd Peter 2:1: But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Whenever a religious leader teaches a way to Heaven other than through Jesus Christ's shed blood and the grace of God we receive through faith in Jesus Christ as a result of His sacrifice made on our behalf when He died on the cross, we know that this a false Prophet, an Anti-Christ.

Some of the examples are (names and their movment of Anti-Christ):

Mohammed - Islam

Jospeh Smith, Jr. - LDS (Mormon)

Charles Taze Russell - Jehovah Witnesses

Benny Hinn - 'False Christianism'

And many more...
Respect everyone's ideas and trust nobody completely. Someone can be a true prophet for a time, but then become a false prophet through arrogance. It's always good to keep an open mind.
Count his name, if it equals to exactly 666 like jesus and muhammad then they are genuine false prophet.

Try this counting formula:

A=9, B=18, C=27, D=36, E=45, ... Z=234
I have an objective method that you can use, and it will work every time:

If someone claims to be a prophet, they're a false prophet.
Since all religions are bullshit, all prophets are false.
The only true prophets are the ones that admit they all phony in the first place, otherwise they are just blatant liars.
Jesus said, ';By their fruit shall you know them.'; False prophets eventually falter and are exposed.
you play eminem and shout out, ';will the real prophet please stand up, please stand up, please stand up!'; haha
Ask them if they have been touched by His Noodly Appendage. A True Prophet of the FSM will answer correctly.
ask another prophet
I think you can tell a false prophet by the prevalence of hair plugs?
He's got his mouth o[pen, and waves his hands about.
Ask God.

He should know who his true prophets are.
easy false prophets fornicate with 9 year old girls lol
Ask them.
The Word of God.
';You will know them by their fruits.';
If you really got faith in God...you'll know how. Don't worry.
