first, all the Prophecies of the OT were false and all those of the NT were biased. Prophesy is impossible, no one can tell the future; would you believe a gypsy palm reader? How do you tell the difference between a genuine prophet and a false prophet?
A prophet is a person who fulfils a prophecy and can thereby perform the impossible, from the power of God through the person. Example could be that Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet and that he had the power to perform miracles, because God gave him the power to perform these miracles, as the miracle came from God.
A false prophet would not be able to perform miracles, or something that is the impossible. Hope this helps. How do you tell the difference between a genuine prophet and a false prophet?
You have to compare it too what the Bible teaches. Mormons think Joseph Smith was a prophet, but Galatians 1:8 destroys Smith's claim.
By what gut feeling I get from them...
By how they stand on the Bible....
A true prophet teaches hope.
Good question. A genuine Prophet would not say,';come and follow me.'; He would preach, ';come, and follow my God. I will teach you, How?'; A genuine Prophet would always be a dependent on God for His guidance to him and to those who accept his Prophecy. His preaching shall not be confined to a few, but to all to whom his voice would reach.. and he would set a personal example, through his conduct, to be followed or possible to be followed by humans.
a tree is known by it's fruit.
Deu 13:1 If there arise in the midst of thee a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he give thee a sign or a wonder,
Deu 13:2 and the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
Deu 13:3 thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or unto that dreamer of dreams: for Jehovah your God proveth you, to know whether ye love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deu 13:4 Ye shall walk after Jehovah your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
Deu 13:5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he hath spoken rebellion against Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage, to draw thee aside out of the way which Jehovah thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee.
The false prophet is the tail, he teaches lies. Gods people know God and his teachings, therefore they are strong to catch a lie.
Most of the old testament false prophets were saying ';it's ok, we will suffer no harm, God will not punish us for our sins, etc.'; A man should know about his own personal sins, as well as the sins of the people...he should also know the consequence.
If a prophet speaks the truth about what is going to happen, then it should make sense.
By how his prophecies fit with the Bible.
Man,prophet,or beast, whoever doesnt believe Christ is the Son of God are all anti-christ and false prophets.Glory and honor to the true living God forever and ever Amen!
By How they stand up to the Bible.
A genuine prophet sits in the council of God, He is his watchman on the tower. He holds his divine authority and uses it to serve others. A prophet proclaims ';thus saith the Lord.'; He is after the manner and exemplar of Jesus Christ. A prophet's teachings are in accordance with the other prophets and the spirit accompanies his teachings.
A false prophet will attempt to do this, but fails. The Holy Ghost does not rest upon that man, nor do the dews from heaven fall upon him as revelation from the Lord.
Galatians 1:8.... for the Mormons...... Huh, I guess that when John the Revelator received his vision from an angel with regards to the everlasting gospel he became accursed.
The Epistle of Galations was scribed prior to the revelation received by John upon the isle of exile.
If you also took the previous verses into account you would also see that Paul is speaking to a particular group of people, those of Galatia. And referring to a event which was happening amoung those people. Are you from Galatia?
The Mormon story begins with Joseph Smith and his vision of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Hmm ..Jesus Christ, isn't that the same who taught Paul as mentioned in the same chapter. Perhaps your teachings are that of man as mentioned in the same chapter a few verses down.
Assume they're ALL false and follow your own path.
false prophets turn out to be wrong. Game Over
A ';false prophet'; promotes lies about Jesus' Already Prophesied Deity!!
100% of the prophecies from the genuine prophet will be fulfilled.
The false prophet cannot prophesy with 100% accuracy.
To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever! Jesus is Lord.
God will tell you, if you can hear His voice. If you can't, then there is no way. You should get to know how to hear His voice by pushing all sin out of your life at all costs with no excuses, then you won't have this Q.
Are you referring to the biblical quote,,,';beware of false prophets?'; this was in the context of Jesus,,,and meant beware of people, claiming they are The Christ,,,,or claiming knowledge,of him and his teachings....This would apply to some sects, who generally misinterpret the word of the Lord, for their own gains.
hi
i would check whether i believe what they say
the differences are that they will have differences to what they say and preach.
hope this helps
I don't think there are any genuine prophets. I think they all had schizophrenia.
No Prophetic word can be opposed to the word of God.
the same way you can tell a good tree from a bad tree...by the fruit it bears...
A genuine prophet teaches only peace and love, and how to achieve enlightenment through the practice of true forgiveness; being non-judgemental, setting aside all thoughts of attack (both by you and against you), and, of most importance, asking the Holy Spirit for guidance. A Teacher of God will tend to have the following characteristics: gentleness, patience, tolerance, trustworthiness, generosity, open-mindedness and faithfulness. No true prophet would ever recommend violence or hatred of any kind: this is totally against the nature of God (which is pure Love) and what He wishes for us (which is complete happiness and fulfillment).
There is no such thing as a genuine prophet! the title alone is ridiculous. It was formed many thousands of years ago by silly superstitious old men who could not explain natural occurrences or happenings. This was a time when if Thunder and lightening happened then it was god that was angry. The problem with so called Prophets is that they encourage dependency and encourage people to follow them. They repeat some wise meassage from years ago and people put them on a pedestal. What happens when you follow, you accept, you form a conclusion, enquiry stops, so you follow without thinking and repeat someone elses words. This is second hand living and mechanical. It is not intelligent living. All so called Prophets are frauds.
He who says does not know, he that doesn't say, knows.
