Was Muhammed a false prophet? If so, is the religion of Islam also false?

In order to be a prophet, you must be able to ';tell of things to come.'; What actually did he predict? Apparently, ';Allah'; revealed things into him and it was put into the Qu'ran. It was actually spread AFTER he died across the Middle East. Also, Islam says that Jesus was simply a ';prophet'; and not the son of God. Muslims seem to think he was no more important than Abraham and Moses. But Jesus said there would be no ';great prophet'; after him, and said to be aware of ';false prophets.'; Did Muhammed simply ';borrow'; things from the Christian Bible and put it into the Qu'ran? Islam says that Judaism and Christianity ';messed up'; God's word, yet BOTH religions are much older than Islam. Not that their beliefs are false, but is the religion itself false? And why is Islam even that appealing to so many people? Wouldn't it be difficult to covert from Christianity (Jesus) to Islam (Allah, Muhammed)? The Bible speaks of Judaism AND Christianity, but not Islam. And since Christianity is the dominant religion, I thought the question was interesting. One more thing: Jesus said the only way to his father is THROUGH him. What do Muslims think of this since they don't think Jesus died for man's sins? Was Muhammed a false prophet? If so, is the religion of Islam also false?
1. Yes, Muhammad was a false prophet. Deuteronomy 18 says that any prophet who speaks something that doesn't come to pass hasn't spoken of God. It goes on to state that if what the prophet says DOES come to pass and the ';prophet'; then points a person to another god, he is false. Muhammad points people to allah, the desert moon idol of his tribe, not to the Living and True God.

2. Yes, the religion of Islam is false because Muslims IN PRACTICE worship Muhammad. With their WORDS they claim to not do so; however, ';actions speak louder than words.'; God's name is blasphemed daily in every walk of life and entertainment, but the Muslims who claim that God is all they worship say NOTHING. Jesus, whom they consider a prophet, is also blasphemed daily, and mocking cartoons and images are made of Him, yet they say NOTHING. However, let a Dutch newspaper draw a cartoon or a 6-year-old name his teddy bear ';Muhammad'; and see what happens! If they truly worship God, they would stand up for Him the way they stand up for Muhammad. But they DO NOT.

3. Muhammad did not borrow from the Bible. What he DID borrow from were stories from heretics and gnostic believers who, like modern cultists, twisted the Bible for their own personal gain. As evidence, Muhammad believed that the term ';trinity'; referred to God, Jesus, and ';the virgin Mary!'; (see the Koran, 5:116; 4:171)

4. Why is Islam appealing? The answer may surprise you. Studies have shown that the chief point of Islam that is so appealing is the PLAIN SENSE OF WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG. In Christianity, there is no such thing -- most Christians disregard the ';Old Testament,'; and as a result we have denominations that say things that are clearly forbidden in the Bible are okay. You do not have that in Islam.

5. Muslims do not believe in sin; therefore, they don't think there is any necessary sacrifice for one's sin. They further believe that Jesus did NOT die on the cross but merely passed out and was revived after removal from the cross. Was Muhammed a false prophet? If so, is the religion of Islam also false?
I love how the first answerer said that Islam is a false religion and got 8 thumb ups and the gguy who said Jesus was a false prophet got 8 thumbs down.

Wtf is everyone's problem? No religion is better than any other.
I believe that he is.

and remember

the devil will quote scripture for his own purposes

(from the temptation in the wilderness)

further Christ predicted that false prophets would follow him 600 years before the birth of Mohamed
How does anyone determine what is true and what is false?

Look to the evidence. If there is no evidence, what is the reason to believe?
The Qu'ran says Jesus was a great prophet but not divine. In order to be a great prophet, your prophesies must come true. So according to the Qu'ran, how could Jesus not be both?

This should explain it: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=…

Everyone is entitled to believe how they choose, but in the long run, the final judgment is Gods.
yes and yes
read the quran and decide for yourself in my opinion yes he was.
The answer to both questions is YES.
Yes and yes

t
I'm an Atheist, but here is what I have learned. Mohammed was an actual real live person who lived 600 years after the supposed death of Jesus. I say ';supposed,'; because there is no real historical proof that Jesus really lived. No the bible is not an historical document! So a false prophet? All profets are just quessing. Did he guess right, or did he guess wrong? What's the difference? Mohammed was a warrior, and an illiterate. He had others do his writting. He represented ideas that best suited his agenda.
I agree with everything that Saadia has said and remember in the Quarn it said that Jesus will return but before he shall return there will be people claiming to be the false prophet but that won't happen till the end of the world is it the end of the world yet? No its not. And i suggest that you do some research on Islam before you listen to anyone else who is NON-Muslim because they don't know the truth and they just wanna take the easy way out of life think about it GOD the ALMIGHTY telling us he has no partner or anything of the such and he has no eyes, ears, nose, mouth, or any from of a human being so how do you expect him to have a son who is a human being with blood and flesh.

And the answer to your question NO and NO!!!!!! Islam is not a false religion and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a real and the last prophet to walk the earth.
Who came up with that definition? but still... Muhammed has told us alot about the future, he's told us about the day of judgement for example.

Islam was not spread after the death of Muhammed, that's christianity, christianity began After the death of Jesus. Muhammed was alive to guide the people into islam, it was spread then and then was followed on after his death too. That is why Muslims say he was the perfect Muslim, because he did things right and showed us how you can be a good Muslim.

Just because Jesus said that there would be no more prophets doesn't make it right. He said he was Gods son, he said he was God himself, so which is he?

How could Muhammed 'borrow' things from the bible and put them into the Quran, The bible doesnt explain half of what the Quran does. The Quran is the words of God, the bible was writen by various random men. If we 'borrowed' the bible then why do we not believe n the same thing. And the reason as to why there might be some similarities are because Islam says that the message that was supposed to be spread was islam but they got misinterpreted (such as Jesus teaching that he was god and the son of god) and became these religions.

Just because Judaisim and Christianity are older doesnt make them right. The law that women were not allowed to vote was an old law, does that make it right? the death penelty etc ?

You ask why is it that appealing? That's because they find truth in it. Islam is the fastest growing religion. If people find so much truth in it can it really be a false religion? Why is it that there is science, medicine, deceny and all sorts taught in Islam. Other religions don't teach that, eg Christianity only teaches common decency to be honest.

'Wouldn't it be difficult to convert from christianity to Islam' Of course, but i guess there must be something there for them to do it then right? I'm sure they wouldn't want to convert to a false religion. They've done their research, they know Islam is the truth,

Muslims disagree with what Jesus said 'only way to heaven is through him' I mean, Christianity is basically based on believing in Jesus, they hardly mention that you should do the things that the bible says. Muslims disagree, firstly theres a simple reason that Jesus is not the son of God. second is that the only way to enter heaven in Islam is to folow islam properly, do good deeds and repent for your sins. Christians worship Jesus, a human. Muslims worship the GOD that made that human.

Islam is not a false religion, read up on it and you'll see how much truth is in it, how can there be so much truth in a religion that was 'made up'.

Clearly, Its teachings show how it could not have been made up.
I believe that Muhammad is not only a false prophet, I think he is THE false prophet who winds up in the Lake of Fire at the end of time.

I can't understand why Muslims believe in Jesus as a great prophet, but don't believe His words. That doesn't make sense to me at all.

Then, too, it is pretty simple to compare the character of Jesus Christ to the character of Muhammad.

Now, which of these two was pure of heart, and simple in His needs?

Which of the two showed more concern for others?

Which of them would you be willing to trust with your children??

Yeah, I choose Jesus, too.

=^_^=

jesus is the son of god and the only way to heaven

god inspired every word of the bible

the Qu'ran was written by a person

muhhammed is dead. How can you think a dead guy can answer your prayers???

in my opinion, islam IS a false religion. the only reason people are so attracted to it is because we are living in the end times. the bible says that in the end times people will be mislead by false prophets and such.

anyways thats my opinion

It all goes back to Isaac and Ishmael. Islam's and Christians both have the Old Testament, but that's where the likeness ends. Christian's believe that Jesus is the Messiah, Islam believes that Mohammad was the Messiah and Judaism don't think their Messiah has come yet. They are all VERY closely related. The Jews rejected Jesus because they thought He would come as a mighty King riding a white horse, not as a lowly servant riding a donkey. Check out the Messianic prophecies - they are fascinating! You'll see the truth for yourself. The most interesting (and disturbing issue) is that Islams and Jews have the Messianic Prophecies in the Old Testament, but they failed to see, accept, acknowledge that Jesus fulfilled them all, some written over a thousand years before His coming.

Good luck on your search.
Deuteronomy 18:18 “I (God) will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee (Moses), and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.”

Many Christians believe this prophecy foretold by Moses to be in regards to Jesus. Indeed Jesus was foretold in the Old Testament, but as will be clear, this prophecy does not befit him, but rather is more deserving of Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him. Moses foretold the following:

1. The Prophet Will Be Like Moses

2. The Awaited Prophet will be from the Brethren of the Jews

The verse in discussion is explicit in saying that the prophet will come amongst the Brethren of the Jews. Abraham had two sons: Ishmael and Isaac. The Jews are the descendants of Isaac’s son, Jacob. The Arabs are the children of Ishmael. Thus, the Arabs are the brethren of the Jewish nation.[3] The Bible affirms:

‘And he (Ishmael) shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.’ (Genesis 16:12)

‘And he (Ishmael) died in the presence of all his brethren.’ (Genesis 25:18)

The children of Isaac are the brethren of the Ishmaelites. Likewise, Muhammad is from among the brethren of the Israelites, because he was a descendant of Ishmael the son of Abraham.

3. God Will Put His Words in the Mouth of the Awaited Prophet

The Quran says of Muhammad:

“Neither does he speak out of his own desire: that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired.” (Quran 53:3-4)

This is quite similar to the verse in Geneses 18:15:

“I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him” (Geneses 18:18)

The Prophet Muhammad came with a message to the whole world, and from them, the Jews. All, including the Jews, must accept his prophethood, and this is supported by the following words:

“The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken.” (Deuteronomy 18:15)

4. A Warning to Rejecters

The prophecy continues:

Deuteronomy 18:19 “And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require [it] of him.” (in some translations: “I will be the Revenger”).

Interestingly, Muslims begin every chapter of the Quran in the name of God by saying:

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem

“‘In the Name of God, the Most-Merciful, the Dispenser of Grace.”

The following is the account of some scholars who believed this prophecy to fit Muhammad.

The First Witness

Abdul-Ahad Dawud, the former Rev. David Benjamin Keldani, BD, a Roman Catholic priest of the Uniate-Chaldean sect (read his biography here). After accepting Islam, he wrote the book, ‘Muhammad in the Bible.’ He writes about this prophecy:

“If these words do not apply to Muhammad, they still remain unfulfilled. Jesus himself never claimed to be the prophet alluded to. Even his disciples were of the same opinion: they looked to the second coming of Jesus for the fulfillment of the prophecy (Acts 3: 17-24). So far it is undisputed that the first coming of Jesus was not the advent of the Prophet like unto thee and his second advent can hardly fulfill the words. Jesus, as is believed by his Church, will appear as a Judge and not as a law-giver; but the promised one has to come with a “fiery law” in his right hand.”[4]

The Second Witness

Muhammad Asad was born Leopold Weiss in July 1900 in the city of Lvov (German Lemberg), now in Poland, then part of the Austrian Empire. He was the descendant of a long line of rabbis, a line broken by his father, who became a barrister. Asad himself received a thorough religious education that would qualify him to keep alive the family’s rabbinical tradition. He had become proficient in Hebrew at an early age and was also familiar with Aramaic. He had studied the Old Testament in the original as well as the text and commentaries of the Talmud, the Mishna and Gemara, and he had delved into the intricacies of Biblical exegesis, the Targum.[5]

Commenting on the verse of the Quran:

“and do not overlay the truth with falsehood, and do not knowingly suppress the truth” (Quran 2:42)

Muhammad Asad writes:

“By ‘overlaying the truth with falsehood’ is meant the corrupting of the biblical text, of which the Quran frequently accuses the Jews (and which has since been established by objective textual criticism), while the ‘suppression of the truth’ refers to their disregard or deliberately false interpretation of the words of Moses in the biblical passage, ‘The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken’ (Deuteronomy 18:15), and the words attributed to God himself, ‘I will raise them up a prophet from among thy brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth’ (Deuteronomy 18:18). The ‘brethren’ of the children of Israel are obviously the Arabs, and particularly the musta’ribah (‘Arabianized’) group among them, which traces its descent to Ishmael and Abraham: and since it is this group that the Arabian Prophet’s own tribe, the Quraish, belonged, the above biblical passages must be taken as referring to his advent.”[6]

Judaism has been around longer than christianity so does that make christianity false?

Buddhism has been around even longer so does that make judaism false?

That argument didnt work..

';Spread after Muhammad's death';

uh yeah, same with Jesus. It wasn't spread massively until after he died.

ur arguments are in the assumption that the bible in its current state is right and that assumption is unfounded. what if the bible really IS wrong and so is the Torah? Then Islam is the correction. But its an IF question and those questions aren't good unless you're testing a hypothesis in science.
All prophets Jesus,Muhammed,Krshna and the rest are old idiots, from another age.

They are appellant to the scared and the stupid.
All religions that claim their prophet or messiah to be the only true one are false religions.
all religions are false.
So was Jesus ?
