I teach Sunday School for the Church of Jesus christ of Latter-day Saints so if you are a member and could answer my question that would be great. I am looking for a scripture that says something about false prophets teaching what is popular and getting gain while true prophets teach what the people need to hear. I remember reading this, but I just can't find it.Scripture that says false prophets teach what is popular and true prophets teach what they need?
Hel. 13: 26
26 Behold ye are worse than they; for as the Lord liveth, if a prophet come among you and declareth unto you the word of the Lord, which testifieth of your sins and iniquities, ye are angry with him, and cast him out and seek all manner of ways to destroy him; yea, you will say that he is a false prophet, and that he is a sinner, and of the devil, because he testifieth that your deeds are evil.Scripture that says false prophets teach what is popular and true prophets teach what they need?
The Old Testament Prophets didn't preach what was popular at times. But they said what the LORD God told them to say.
And then what was prophesied came to pass.
You can study the Old Testament Prophets where they prophesied what the LORD said, and the people didn't like it. But the prophetic word came to pass anyway.
So I don't think it is written in the Bible as you said it. It is just understood through some examples of True Prophets doing this in the bible.
But many times True Prophets say what is needed and it is popular also. It really depends on who is listening.

Kim Clement is gifted prophetically. And he tries to speak positive over the negative.
And he is a voice against the negative prognostications.

Also, he has written books and teaches a class on hearing God and using prophetic gifts that could help you.
I beleives the severetity the bible gives us for false prophecy discourages prophecy.
In the old testament the penalties were more severe too.
No true prophets speak the truth people need to hear it but won't listen because they have been programmed to think a certain way.
Religion is way older than 2000 years people God Jehovah has been around b4 there even was a time.
Even how we look at time is false.
I don't have that, but it does say that if one prophesies and it does not come true, he is to be stoned.
Sure would cut down on the crap wouldn't it
Goodbye t.v. evangelism

Scripture says a lot of things. All prophets are false, including Joseph Smith.
sorry I dont have an LDS text
Jesus said there will be a lot of false Christ and prophets. Joseph Smith is a false prophet. God said that there will be no God before me neither after me. Joseph smith lied and said you can become God whos word is more true God or man. you need to hear that Jesus is the only salvation not you works the bible says that your are saved by grace through faith and not of yourself it is the gift of God not of work if any man should boast. which one God or man. i would choose God. joseph smith turn you away from the true Christ and taught you a lie they made more of works and religion not relationship with God did not come to earth to start a religion but a relationship. God loves you and He wants you to be His child and want to save you from sin. the bible says all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Jesus is the only way to heaven. not works or anything else by His blood He cleanses us from all sin. and by His resurection we have hope by Jesus we can have that relationship with God. repent of your sins and surrender your life to God and put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ pray this prayer to God
dear God i believe You sent Your Son Jesus to die for my sins i confess that i am a sinner please forgive me for my sins i believ Jesus died for my sins was burried and ressurected the third day come into my life and conrol it thank you for saving me thank you for eternal life In Jesus name amen
