Deuteronomy 18:20-22 and Matt. 24:11,23-27 warn us of false prophets. How would one identify a false prophet using these verses?
A false prophet is someone that tries to turn you away from Christ. That is all.
Plus there is a difference in an old testament prophet where the people in general couldn't hear God for themselves, or better yet choose not to and after the law was fulfilled. How would one identify a false prophet using these verses?
Don't have a Bible handy (haha), but I presume those are the ones about if they give a false prophesy, they're wrong, right?
That would make Issiah and Ezekial (however you spell it) wrong.
Just look up their prophesies about the city of Tyre, then look up the history of Tyre. They were wrong. But don't take my word for it. Look it up.
Allah, the all Wise, all Knowledgeable, all Merciful and all Just created this Universe in order to test and examine His obedient slaves and reward them, and to punish the disobedient. He says: “We did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in play. We did not create them except for a true purpose (to test and examine who are obedient, and to reward them, and who are disobedient and punish them), but most of them do not know.” Al Quran 44: 38-39
And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, ';O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?''; He will say, ';Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.
I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness. The Holy Quran Chapter 5 Verses 116 to 117
Who is Muhammad (P.B.U.H)
“Indeed, in this [Quran] is notification for a worshipping people. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad ], except as a mercy to the worlds.” [Quran: 21:106-107]
Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was born in Makkah in the year 570. Since his father died before his birth and his mother died shortly thereafter, he was raised by his uncle who was from the respected tribe of Quraysh. He was raised illiterate, unable to read or write, and remained so till his death. His people, before his mission as a prophet, were ignorant of science and most of them were illiterate. As he grew up, he became known to be truthful, honest, trustworthy, generous, and sincere. He was so trustworthy that they called him the Trustworthy. Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was very religious, and he had long detested the decadence and idolatry of his society.
Generally, there is a very good way to identify a false prophet. Ask him if he is a false prophet. If he says no, there is a very good chance that he is a false prophet.
.
If you have the spirit of the Lord in you, you must identify the false prophet though the spirit of discernment. If a false prophet prophesies something and it doesn't come to pass it wasn't from God because a prophet is suppose to get the word from God and God is not a man that he should lie
there are none ( I mean real ones) since Jesus died..
You have a tiger by the tail and do not realize it brother. There are many that do not understand what determines a prophet.
First of all what is a prophet? Correct me if I am wrong, but to me a prophet can be someone who prophesies of things in the future or one that just declares the word of God from the Holy Scriptures or using the scriptures determines and declares something prophetic, that is through much study and leading of the Holy Spirit sees a hidden truth or event determined by the scriptures and declares it.
I think that you are looking for two categories for the answer. Simply put if someone makes themselves to be a prophet of God and declares a word from God out of the context of the existing words in the Holy Bible as an event forthcoming or related to Christ coming back we had better take a good look at this so called prophet for if everything declared by this prophet does not happen line for line and precept for precept the prophet is a false prophet so declares the Lord.
I do not know of any so called prophet in my lifetime that I would not call a false prophet in the area of predictions and there are many so called prophets who prophesy from the Holy Bible and are also in error and therefore are not ministers of God.
Isn't it wonderful to know that the elect of God can not be deceived. AMEN!
Is this rhetorical or is there a particular element of this precept that needs clarification?
Not only that..But an anti-christ.
1Jo 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
1Jo 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2Jo 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an Antichrist.
You need to use all the bible not just these two verses. This is not fully describing what a Prophet is and what he does.
