A library has been written about him, what are the odds? How can you tell if Paul was not a false prophet?
There is subjectivity to the prophet definition.
By their fruits is one way and by their gift of prophesy is another. Read Mathew 7 Jesus sermon on the mount and that will help you understand in context.
How can you tell if Paul was not a false prophet?
The writings of Paul are inspired. They do not in any way contradict the other scriptures, not in any point. Peter recognized the validity of the inspiration of his writing, and classed them on the same par as ';the other scriptures.';
Mr. Smith, however has written much that contradicts the doctrines of the Bible, which we know IS inspired by God.
God does not contradict Himself, therefore, one of the writers is false.
The teachings of Joseph Smith (including the Book of Mormon) do not contradict the Bible.
I think that Paul was hated and persecuted in his day. The same probably applies to a lot of prophets during their lifetime.
If there were prophets today, would it be any different that it has been in the history of the earth? I doubt it. I take it as a sign, in a sense, that there is a lot of bitterness directed towards the prophets.
Even Christ, the Savior, was persecuted to death.
Satan will always fight against the truth. Is that not evidence of the fact that it is truth?
Revelation 22: 18-19 18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
1) Paul met Jesus. Although he could have become corrupt later.
2) Paul's radical change gives plausibility to the idea that he met Jesus. Much like what is happening to some Muslims today.
3) Paul's writings were considered Scripture by Peter (2 Peter 3:14-18).
4) Paul was accepted as an apostle by the early church (his contemporaries- the church in Jerusalem).
Hope this helps,
Jeff
Also, he was not a ';fore-telling'; prophet as many of the Hebrew prophets were. He was more of a sent out one- to teach.
Paul and all the Apostles, Joseph Smith and all of them were false prophets. In no shape , form or fashion do they fit the guidelines for Deuteronomy 13. They never called on the name of Yahweh and they never kept the laws or prophesied something.
Paul had the full endorsement of the apostles and the elders in the Church at Jerusalem:

from a religious perspective.. Prophets have to be right, otherwise, they won't be able to deliver the message of God if they weren't..
The bible says the same of all prophets: look to see if their prophecies come true. If even one does not, he is not a prophet.
All prophets, by definition, are false.
If you throw enough crap against the wall, sooner or later some of it is bound to stick...
common sense is not common
The odds are in his favor.
I hear if you lift him up and check underneath you can tell.
