Why would a man of God (David Wilkerson) want to be a false prophet ?

In 1973 he wrote a book called ';The Vision';, he said most of the visions would be fulfilled ';within a decade'; or ';very soon';. Also in 1998 he said the stock market would crash in three months, which it didn't.

Money. The Bible is clear that no one knows the time of the end, not even the Son. So, how would any human being know?Why would a man of God (David Wilkerson) want to be a false prophet ?
Many claim to be ';the voice of god';. Usually it turns out to be mental illness that causes these claims.

The gifts of prophesy (as in predicting the future) , tongues, and knowlege were sign gifts for the early church. People who claim them are either deceived or false prophets. See 1 Corinthians13:8.
To sell books? That's why many false prophecies are often spouted.
